Mali

Mali, the largest country in West Africa, was a powerful and wealthy empire which dominated West Africa history for many centuries. The fabled city of Timbuktu lies on the edge of the Sahara Desert in Mali and was the renowned nerve center of Islamic learning and trade in the 15th and 16th centuries in Western Africa. The famous mud Djingareiber Mosque, built in the 14th century, is located in Timbuktu. Today, Mali is rich with tradition, culture, art, and diverse tribal groups. It is a fascinating, colorful place to visit and to meet its beautiful, friendly people.

The coastal state of Gujurat, in northwestern India, is a cultural mecca where handicraft arts flourish in the cities and villages; exquisite jewelry and fabrics abound. In the rustic tribal villages, the men and women wear beautiful and colorful traditional dress. This Indian state is a delight for a photographer.

India is truly a land of enchantment, a beautiful, colorful country of diverse cultures and landscapes. I have traveled from the far southern tip of the country to the far north in the Himalayas. I have also traveled to the Maldives, an island nation located south of India in the Indian Ocean and pre dorian Muslim. Here are some of my favorite images of this fascinating part of the world.

Ladakh, frequently called "little Tibet", is the far northern state of India in the Himalayas, bordered by Tibet and Pakistan. It is a fascinating land of Buddhist monasteries, towering mountains, magical festivals and beautiful, hospitable people.

Mongolia

Mongolia is a country of big skies, big horizons, fast horses and gracious people. The Mongolians' unique, nomadic lifestyle and culture make this land a photographer's paradise.
